Defining Mental Health In The Black Community
A virtual workshop to engage in an open discussion with the Black Community about our healing and wellness. An open and Interactive discussion with Therapists to help define your wellness and understand mental health stigmas in our community.
This event will be hosted in a safe black space by Brandy S. Jones-Thomas, Therapist, Professor and CEO/Founder of Affinity Community Counseling and Chipo Ashe, Therapist, Author & Professor. It is appropriate to have youth (14- 17) participate in this workshop with their Parent or Caregiver.
Brandy Jones-Thomas is a licensed Therapist that specializes in cultural/racial trauma, mental wellness, and healing for communities of color. Her primary focus has been providing therapy to children and families for the past 14 years. Brandy is a veteran of the US Airforce where
she was a military police officer for 6 years. Brandy strongly believes that therapy is a journey towards wellness that is attained with commitment and support. The foundation of Affinity Community Counseling is the community it serves. Brandy is also a Professor at a Local Community college where she teaches Human Services and Social Work.
Chipo C. Ashe is an Associate Therapist who specializes in healing within her community. She focuses on trauma, depression, and anxiety in youth and young adults. She graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy. Chipo considers therapy a collaborative effort between both client and therapist. Her goal is to help clients discover the tools to heal themselves.
